Background

The story

Volvo unveiled the FH on 1 September 1993 as the FH12 and FH16, replacing the F-series cab-overs after seven years of development. FH stands for 'forward control, high entry', and the number gives the engine size in litres. The range has sold more than 400,000 units worldwide.

The third generation, launched in September 2012, brought a new design and major technology upgrades. In 2011 Volvo had presented a 750 hp version of its 16-litre engine, marking 25 years of Volvo 16-litre truck engines.

Volvo Trucks is based in Gothenburg, Sweden, where its first truck was built in 1928.
