Background

The story

The Ferrari 499P is the Le Mans Hypercar that brought Ferrari back to top-class sports car racing in 2023, 50 years after its last factory prototype challenged for overall victory at Le Mans. One car raced as No. 50 in tribute. It uses a 2,992 cc twin-turbo V6 shared with the 296, plus a 200 kW electric motor on the front axle.

At the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, held on 15-16 June, the No. 50 car of Antonio Fuoco, Miguel Molina and Nicklas Nielsen won after 311 laps, 14.2 seconds ahead of the No. 7 Toyota. It was the first Le Mans win for all three drivers, and Ferrari's 11th overall and second in a row.
