Background

The story

Alongside the two factory cars, AF Corse ran a privately entered Ferrari 499P, No. 83, at the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Robert Shwartzman.

The car was among the front-runners and Kubica led overall, but in the 21st hour Shwartzman brought it into the garage with smoke coming from the brakes, caused by a motor-generator unit fault on the front axle, and it retired. A year later the No. 83 crew of Kubica, Ye and Phil Hanson won Le Mans outright.
