Background

The story

Ford UK's Supervans combine the look of a Transit van with the chassis and performance of a sports racing car. The first appeared at Brands Hatch at Easter 1971, and Supervan 2 followed in 1984 on a Ford C100 Group C chassis.

In 1994 Supervan 2 was rebuilt as Supervan 3 to promote the facelifted Mark 3 Transit, the first time a Supervan launched a new model rather than one near the end of its life. DRL Engineering of Suffolk fitted a seven-eighths scale body and a Cosworth HB engine. It had the longest career of the three, appearing in public until 2001.
