Background
The story
At the 2024 Miami Grand Prix on 5 May, Oscar Piastri jumped from sixth to third on the first lap, passed Charles Leclerc and briefly led the race during the pit stops.
After a safety car restart, contact with Carlos Sainz Jr. damaged his front wing and dropped him out of the points; Sainz was penalised. Piastri still set the fastest lap. His teammate Lando Norris took his first Grand Prix win, McLaren's first since 2021.
