Mercedes-Benz 190 (W201) Evo II Solido Works 1990 Black

The arrival of BMW's M3 Evolution 2 in March 1988 left the Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 needing more power to stay competitive. Mercedes answered with the Evolution in 1989 and then, at the Geneva Auto Show in March 1990, the 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II. All 502 cars were sold before it was even unveiled.

The Evo II used the short-stroke 2,463 cc four-cylinder with the AMG PowerPack, producing 235 PS at 7,200 rpm, plus adjustable SLS suspension. Its radical body kit, designed by Professor Richard Eppler of the University of Stuttgart, included a large adjustable rear wing and cut drag to 0.29 while adding downforce.

Of the 502 cars, 500 were painted blue-black metallic and the last two astral silver. Production ran from 1990 to 1991, the shortest of any 190 model. Solido finishes this model in a colour it calls Solido Works Black.
