Ferrari F300 · Michael Schumacher 1998

The F300 was designed by Rory Byrne under technical director Ross Brawn, around the narrower track the rules required for 1998. It used Ferrari's 3.0-litre Tipo 047 V10. It was quick and dependable, but McLaren's MP4/13 was the faster car, and Mika Häkkinen won the first two races of the year.

Schumacher fought back through the summer and arrived at Monza on 13 September seven points behind Häkkinen. He took pole position in wet qualifying, then made a poor start and fell to fifth. He worked his way forward, passed Häkkinen, and won when the McLaren's brakes failed late in the race. Eddie Irvine finished second for a Ferrari one-two at home, and the win brought Schumacher level on points with Häkkinen with two races left.

Häkkinen took the title at the final round in Japan, but Monza was the F300's sixth and last win, and the last Formula One win for Goodyear tyres. This replica shows Schumacher's number 3 car from that pole-and-win weekend.
