Background

The story

The McLaren MP4/8 raced in the 1993 season. Neil Oatley designed it around advanced electronics including a semi-automatic gearbox, active suspension, two-way telemetry and traction control. Ayrton Senna drove it in 1993, his last season with McLaren, and won five races.

On 19 May 2024 at Imola, four-time World Champion Sebastian Vettel drove an MP4/8 in tribute to Senna. Minichamps' 1:18 set includes a Vettel figurine and a flag.
