Background

The story

The McLaren MCL38 was designed under the direction of Rob Marshall for 2024 and carried McLaren to the Constructors' Championship. It was the first McLaren to win a Grand Prix since 2021.

That first win came at the Miami Grand Prix on 5 May 2024. Max Verstappen started from pole, but Lando Norris took the lead during a safety car period and held on to win on his 110th start, ahead of Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. It was McLaren's first victory since the 2021 Italian Grand Prix.
