Background

The story

The McLaren MCL39 won 14 Grands Prix in 2025, seven for each driver, and took both the Constructors' and Drivers' titles, with Lando Norris crowned champion at the Abu Dhabi finale.

At the Monaco Grand Prix on 25 May 2025, Norris took pole and won, McLaren's first Monaco victory since 2008. Charles Leclerc was second and Oscar Piastri third. It was Norris's first win since the season opener in Melbourne and cut Piastri's championship lead to three points.
