Background

The story

Max Verstappen won the first Las Vegas Grand Prix on 18 November 2023, on a new street circuit along the Las Vegas Strip. Charles Leclerc took pole; Verstappen started second and won after a race with several changes of lead, ahead of Leclerc and his team-mate Sergio Pérez.

It was the first Formula One race in Las Vegas since the 1982 Caesars Palace Grand Prix, and the first championship Grand Prix to start on a Saturday since 1985. Pérez's third place secured second in the Drivers' Championship, giving Red Bull Racing its first one-two in the standings.
