Background

The story

The E24 was the first BMW 6 Series, a two-door grand touring coupé built from 1976 to 1989 to replace the E9. It was designed by Paul Bracq, and every version used a petrol straight-six.

The 635CSi arrived in July 1978 with a close-ratio five-speed gearbox and a one-piece black rear spoiler that cut lift at speed by almost 15 percent compared with other E24s.

Decades later, Kyoto-based Coutner developed a racing widebody kit for late European 635CSi, M6 and M635CSi models. It was designed by Kei Miura from a laser scan of a stock car and debuted at Tokyo Auto Salon 2019. The kit adds a new front bumper, front and rear over-fenders, side skirts, rear bumper flaps and a tall "Highrise" rear wing.
