Background

The story

The second-generation BMW M2, codenamed G87, was shown in October 2022. It sits on the CLAR platform shared with the M3 and M4 and uses BMW M's S58 twin-turbo straight-six.

For the 2026 model year BMW added the M2 CS. Its 3.0-litre six makes 530 PS (390 kW) and 649 Nm and drives through an 8-speed automatic, the only gearbox offered. The roof, boot lid, mirror caps and rear diffuser are carbon fibre, which makes the CS nearly 45 kg lighter than the standard M2. Forged wheels and a ducktail rear spoiler complete the package.

The CS is not a numbered limited edition, but BMW expected to build fewer than 2,000 in a model year.
