Background

The story

The second-generation BMW M2, codenamed G87, was shown to the public in October 2022 ahead of its debut at Motorclassica in Melbourne, and went on sale in April 2023. It is built on the CLAR platform, which it shares with the G80 M3 and G82 M4.

Power comes from BMW M's twin-turbo 3.0-litre S58 straight-six, rated at launch at 460 PS and 550 Nm. Buyers could choose a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic, and BMW quoted 0–100 km/h in 4.1 seconds with the automatic. Top speed is limited to 250 km/h, or 285 km/h with the optional M Driver's package.
