Background

The story

BMW M confirmed an estate version of the new M5 on 26 June 2023. Shown in June 2024 and on sale from November 2024, it is the first M5 Touring since the E61, and the first ever sold in North America.

Earlier M5 Tourings were rare: BMW built 891 of the hand-assembled E34 version and 1,025 of the E61. The new car shares the G90 saloon's plug-in hybrid drive, a 4.4-litre twin-turbo S68 V8 plus an electric motor in the 8-speed gearbox, for a combined 727 PS and 1,000 Nm.
