Mazda RX-7 FD3S Type RS 1999

The third-generation RX-7, chassis code FD3S in Japan, was announced in October 1991. Its 13B-REW rotary engine was the first mass-produced sequential twin-turbo system to be exported from Japan, and its output grew from 255 PS in 1992 to 280 PS by the time production ended in 2002.

The final Series 8 cars, built from 1998 to 2002, were sold only in Japan. They had a redesigned front with larger openings for better cooling, plus new seats, steering wheel and instruments.

The high-end Type RS came with Bilstein suspension and 17-inch wheels, weighed 1,280 kg and produced 280 PS at 6,500 rpm and 314 Nm, helped by a freer-flowing muffler and more efficient turbochargers.
