Background

The story

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, directed by Justin Lin, was released in the United States on 16 June 2006 as the third film in the franchise. Its hero, Sean Boswell, races Takashi's Nissan 350Z in a Silvia S15 lent to him by Han, loses and badly damages the car.

Solido recalls the warning Sean is given before that first drift session: 'Don't damage his Mona!' The car is called the Mona Lisa because it is Han's masterpiece. In the film it is shown with an RB26DETT engine swap, but the car was actually powered by the Silvia's original engine.

The S15 Silvia went on sale in Japan in January 1999 as the Spec-S and Spec-R. Nissan stopped building the S platform in August 2002, making the S15 the last car to carry the Silvia name.
