Background

The story

The R34 was the last Skyline GT-R. Introduced on 8 January 1999 and sold through Nissan's Prince, Cherry and Sunny dealers, it ended production in August 2002, after which Nissan separated the GT-R from the Skyline name; the all-new GT-R debuted in Tokyo in December 2007.

The final run-out models, launched in February 2002, were the V·spec II Nür and M·spec Nür, named after the Nürburgring where the Skyline was developed. Nissan built 1,003 for Japan, 718 V·spec II Nürs and 285 M·spec Nürs, with an engine based on the N1 racing unit and larger turbochargers.
