Background

The story

Subaru introduced the second-generation Impreza, the GD saloon, in Japan in August 2000. The turbocharged WRX and the more focused WRX STI were offered in many specifications, with the STI using a more powerful turbocharged flat-four: 2.0 litres in Japan and 2.5 litres elsewhere.

The original 'bugeye' front gave way to the restyled 'blobeye' look. Subaru's WRC2003 rally car, based on the updated road car, was introduced at the 2003 Rallye Monte Carlo, and that season Petter Solberg won the drivers' championship in an Impreza.

The Impreza shares the record for most WRC event wins with the Lancia Delta. Solido's Solido Works version is finished in yellow.
